It probably had to happen sometime. On June 1st the art world and Reality TV will collide headon in “Artstar,” a new series that not unlike “American Idol,” aims to find the next big thing. Critics, curators and so-called experts will join host and tastemaker Jeffrey Deitch over the course of 8 episodes to put 8 artists’ artsiness to the test on Dish Network television. The winner will receive the grand prize of a solo show at Deitch’s gallery (i.e. fame, fortune, flavor-of-themonthdom) while the others contemplate day jobs. |
